Driving The Car

Image
L ast week was great.  We had an epic pickleball match, performed some service and met with some friends.  It feels so good to be out of quarantine and get some fresh air!  One of our service projects was taking some trash out to the dump.  We got to smash stuff and that was fun.  Another service project involved helping someone that wanted us to take down two trees.  We only had some small shovels so we dug out the small one but couldn’t make a dent in the larger tree.  Maybe next time.  Elder Davis was able to finally transfer and my new companion is Elder Neal.  I learned a lot last week and listened to a really good talk.  The speaker likened four areas to driving a car.   - Spiritual is your purpose.  It is where you are going or driving the car.   - Emotional is your "energy" or the engine.   - Mental is what you learn as the actual driver of the car.   - Physical is "the doing "or the a...

Bringing Into The Feast

Well, these past few weeks were fascinating. I did a lot of activities for the 4 th  of July, so I didn't have time to write an email, but we hung out with Zone and did festivities together. Then came Wednesday. Elder Davis sadly tested positive for Covid, so he was out the day before transfers.  My new companion is Elder Neal, but for the time being me and Elder Davis have been locked down together for the last 5+ days or so. While it was tough being locked down, I learned lot! While we were limited to the activities we could do, I took it as an opportunity to learn a lot about goals, and what it means to be less "goal setters" but more "goal achievers".  Keeping positive has been a focus this week and it has been testing my ability to remain positive.  I am excited for this new week, and the opportunity to try again.  I also studied a lot about patience and the eternal significance it has. There was a quote that I found that I like:  "Only through patienc...

Hello From Missouri Independence Mission

Dear Parents of the MIM Missionaries, I thought it was well overdue that I send out an email.  I wish to express sincere appreciation to you for sharing your child with us for a time.  After next week’s new arrivals, we will have had about 540 missionaries pass through our mission.  Getting to know them all, to feel of their love for us and the Lord and to have our hearts filled with love for them has been one of the great joys and blessings of our lives.  They are doing marvelous things, they are instruments in the hands of the Lord to share His restored gospel. Their devoted efforts have helped to bring miracles from heaven to truly bless so many lives.  One of the miracles we have experienced this year is to continue to see many good fruits of our labors in spite of many fewer missionaries.  We are currently at 163 missionaries, down from 265 in November 2020.  Last year we saw more baptisms than most any previous year in the mission.  Included...

Blazing Hot

Image
It’s been a great couple of weeks since my last email, so here's a quick update.  We have done some solid service, played Frisbee Golf and Ultimate Frisbee with the youth, and taught a lesson using Pokémon.  We had some good Thai food from a food truck and I made some pineapple curry that wasn’t bad.  It’s been blazing hot and humid here.    I’ve been studying about grace and the redemptive power it has.  We need to give grace to ourselves and to others.  I have also been thinking how important it is to impart what you have.  When we share when we have learned, we are giving part of ourselves to others.  Share the things you have cultivated and the knowledge you have.   A thought for this week:  Find your own "why".   Hope you have a great week.  Happy 4th!   Elder (Aidan) George aidan.george@missionary.org
