Dama Da Cao

Image
Hola from Jordan,   It was a really good week this week.  The work has been great and we have accomplished a lot.  I have been learning more about acting on spiritual promptings and it is changing on how we work every day.  We have a large focus on talking to everyone we know and see and it has been really good.  We went on exchanges that went well and went to Huanchaco and Dama de Cao archeological site and museum for p-day.   This week I have been learning more about charity.  In 1 st  Corinthians 13: 4-6, it says, 4. “Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5. Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6. Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth”.     Two lines really stood out to me.  Charity suffereth long and is not easily provoked.  I have been thinking about in my own life times when I ...

Setting Goals And Saving Cats

Image
Greetings from Jordan,   It's been yet another solid week in Peru.  I went on exchanges, had zone conference, saved a cat that was stuck, and am working with some really great people.     This week I have been studying about making goals.  Setting goals can help you make and keep covenants, serve others, pursue education, grow in your job or career, and build strong family relationships.  Think about a goal you would like to achieve and then: 1. Set your goals and make plans on how you will accomplish them 2. Record and schedule your plans. 3. Act on your plans. Work hard and have faith in the Lord to help you. 4. Review and follow up.    As you do this, “the Lord will magnify your efforts…and you will bring about much good in blessing Heavenly Father’s children”.   Hope you had a good 4 th  of July! Preach My Gospel

Image
Hello once again from Jordan! We’ve had another good week in Peru.  We had a great day attending the baptism of some of our friends.  I had a good video call with my mission president, and on Pday we had a treasure hunt and played games.  My companion also gave me a present I found when I woke up. The flowers around town are blooming which adds some nice color.   I have been studying the new Preach My Gospel this week.   In it, it reads, The gospel of Jesus Christ is “the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth” (Romans 1:16).  When we share the gospel, it needs to be taught by the power of the Holy Ghost, which is divine power.  We all have Christ like attributes that can be an example to those around us.  I would encourage and invite you to read and find ways you can bring good changes into your life and the lives of others. Have a stellar week.   Elder (Aidan) George aidan.george@missionary.org Pictures: Peppa Pig...

Raise The Roof

Image
Hola, I’ve had another good week in Peru.  We are staying busy and have met a lot of great friends.  The other two missionaries living with us moved into another apartment so it was sad to see them go but we are all good.     This week I have been studying about the atonement and read these scriptures:   15  Therefore I command you to repent—repent, lest I  smite  you by the rod of my mouth, and by my wrath, and by my anger, and your  sufferings  be sore—how sore you know not, how exquisite you know not, yea, how hard to bear you know not. 16  For behold, I, God, have  suffered  these things for all, that they  might  not suffer if they would  repent ; 17  But if they would not repent they must  suffer  even as I; 18  Which   suffering  caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit—and wou...

Listening And Comforting

Image
Hola once again from Jordan! We have had a great week.  It has been quite busy, and we have met a lot of great friends.  The work moves forward.  We also had exchanges and I learned how to solve a Rubik’s Cube on Pday.   This week we learned about how to help others and about myths in helping others in our Emotional Resilience Class. Some of the myths are: Myth #1:  I am 100% responsible for providing others the help they need.   Myth #2: I should be the expert on solving others’ problems. Myth #3: There are quick fixes to life’s problems. Myth #4: I don’t know the right thing to say, so it’s better I don’t say anything.    We need to be “willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light; and in Mosiah 18:9, Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all time and in all things, and in all places…”   We are asked to comfort, lis...

Is It I?

Image
Hola, It’s been a busy week this week with transfers.  I stayed in Jordan and my new companion is Elder Solano.  He is a great missionary.  We met many new friends, attended a baptism, split our zones, and dug a trench where there was a leaking water line.  I've also started a new way of journalling, adding drawings and visuals as opposed to just writing it all out.      In my studies this week, I was thinking about the question in Matthew 26: 21-22.  “And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.  22. And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?”  Elder Uchtdorf said that question can apply to all of us.  When Christ said that someone would betray him, no one said, “It’s probably Phil”.  It shows that His disciples were humble.  They didn’t think that the message could apply to someone else.  They asked, “am I the one?” .  ...
