Listening And Comforting

Hola once again from Jordan!

We have had a great week.  It has been quite busy, and we have met a lot of great friends.  The work moves forward.  We also had exchanges and I learned how to solve a Rubik’s Cube on Pday.

This week we learned about how to help others and about myths in helping others in our Emotional Resilience Class. Some of the myths are:

Myth #1:  I am 100% responsible for providing others the help they need.

Myth #2: I should be the expert on solving others’ problems.

Myth #3: There are quick fixes to life’s problems.

Myth #4: I don’t know the right thing to say, so it’s better I don’t say anything.

We need to be “willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light; and in Mosiah 18:9, Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all time and in all things, and in all places…”   We are asked to comfort, listen, and be there for those in need.  We aren’t there to solve other’s problems.  We are there to take time to love and listen.  If we aren’t listening then we aren’t comforting.

Have a great week.
