Faith, Hope, And Charity

Image
The past couple of weeks have been busy.  We met a gentleman that asked how he could become part of the church.  We had a powerful lesson with him and he asked a lot of great questions.  He will be well taken care of by Elder Moen and his new companion as I was transferred on Thursday to Independence.     We have done a lot of service including clean up the city graveyard, helping someone move, and helping tear a ceiling down.  I almost fell off a roof one of the days.   I was chucking pieces of material down from the roof of a house. I got a nice clean large piece and went to throw it off and still had a bunch of momentum after I released it.  I hit a fence right on the edge, which prevented me from falling off the roof to my death. It was epic.   On P-day we were able to go to an art museum with our Zone.  There were some really cool paintings and it was a nice change of pace.   I have been thinking about the different a...

Tales Of Elder George, Vol 1

Image
Whilst the young Elder reflects on his journey, he first recalls the time he spent with the family known as "Baker". Their fine steeds look very much like the lad's valiant beasts back at home, Henry (aka Da Henries) and Oliver. That brought great joy to Elder George. He then served with the legendary Elder Biggs for the day where they did mighty services in the park, picking up trash.    His journey landed him to a kitchen of legend, known as the Gough's. There he partook of the best pizza he has partaken of...Chick-fil-A pizza! Wednesday, he went to the Temple and had an outstanding experience.    Friday, he struggled vigorously as he used the native language of a distant land (Spanish) to teach the Gospel. Sunday, he, and his companions went to Liberty Jail and felt the spirit of the saints. It was a fantastic experience.    Pictures: -  The dish of legend  - The Temple with Elder Moen - Liberty Jail Have a great week!   Elder (Aidan) Geor...

Anti-Fragile

Image
A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks.  We had transfers and I stayed in Kansas City and Elder Connell was transferred to a different area.  My new companion’s name is Elder Moen.  He’s a good friend.    I found out that my Visa paperwork got lost sometime in February, so I had to redo my fingerprints and submit a new background check.  I don’t have a date yet on when I will be leaving for Peru but I’m just focusing on making connections with the fine people here in Missouri.   I went on exchanges last week and had a lot of fun.  I’ve been working on family history and learning about my ancestors.  We also did a lot of service and participated in an Escape Room activity with the youth.    I talked with someone that used the term “anti-fragile” last week. I liked the idea of….  You can hit it and it becomes fragile.  With enough pressure it will burst and then rebuild as something stronger.    Hope you ar...

Family

Image
This was a great week.  Thank you for all the birthday wishes! I had some great families make me birthday dinner and cookies.  Another family gave me and my companion some Elk steaks that we cooked for dinner.  I also made some stew but had to improvise some ingredients, so it was "meh".  The trees are pretty here as the Spring blossoms are starting to bloom.    This week I have had family on my mind.  The goal of families is to help each other.  What defines family?  We are all family, whether by blood or not. The family is the strongest unit on the planet.   Blessings come through family history work and connecting with all those around us.  To love our neighbors is the first great commandment.  The power of the atonement has been extended to all of us and we have been given mercy and grace.  We can and should give mercy and grace to others.  The reason I'm out here is to connect with others.    ...
