Strength

Image
Greetings,   Another great week has gone by here in Peru.  We had transfers and I have a new companion named Elder Gomez.  We have been visiting the great members here in El Porvenir and meeting with friends.  Our ward has also been getting together to play Olympic activities including soccer and volleyball.  It is blazing hot here and our apartment has old school AC.       I have been studying about overcoming temptation.  Jesus fasted and prayed to receive power against temptation. Learning about Christ and through our experiences with affliction and temptation, we can become stronger.  Christ was able to overcome temptation and is an example to us how to prepare and overcome temptations we face.  I like this quote by C.S. Lewis.   "Only those who try to resist temptation know how strong it is….You find out the strength of a wind by trying to walk against it, not by lying down. The Word

Image
Hola!   It’s been a great week here.  I went on exchanges, met with some friends, and went to zone conference.  I had some delicious food including a Papa Rellena, which is a potato stuffed with chicken and veggies and other stuff and then deep fried.  We also had a visitor named Luna (meow).   In my studies this week, I read this quote by President Nelson.  “In the Greek language of the New Testament, the Word was Logos, or ‘expression.’ It was another name for the Master.  That terminology may seem strange, but it is appropriate.  We use words to convey our expression to others.  So Jesus was the Word, or expression, of His Father to the World.”  I  really like that Jesus is the expression of and represents His Father.  We likewise can be a representative of Christ by the way we treat others.   Have a good week!   Elder (Aidan) George  Pictures: Visitor Luna Churros Zone Conference Rainbow Countryside Papa Rell...

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!   It’s been a good couple of weeks in Peru.  We saw some crazy fireworks from our apartment New Year’s Eve (check out the video).  Last week we had exchanges, a zone council, and visited with the great missionaries in our zone.  On P-day, we went on a short hike to Conache and saw some sand dunes.  I also ate some delicious green mashed potatoes.    I’ve been studying about believing in Christ and the power of forgiveness.  A good indicator of conversion and belief in Christ is peace.  The fruits of repentance, which is a change of heart, is peace.  We can consistently change and progress and receive more peace.  When we receive forgiveness, we are freed from the idea of fear, captivity, guilt, anxiety, and many other things that will help us feel peace and God’s love.   Hope you all have a great 2023!   Elder (Aidan) George aidan.george@missionary.org   Pictures/Video: Friends in Peru Lunch Green Mash...
