Black Lightning Dragon Fire

This week went by  fast,  but the days were somewhat uneventful. We did quite a few different service projects as well as setting up appointments with our local church members.  Two of the most notable parts of my week were the opportunity I had to go to Adam-ondi-Ahman and attending a party with some of the Hispanic members in our area.   Adam-ondi-Ahman was different than I expected. When we arrived, it seemed like it wasn’t anything spectacular.  It wasn't until we were leaving that I realized how special it was. I had one of the most spiritual experiences when I gave a blessing while we were there. It felt like there were angels present. I felt like I was unconsciously on a spiritual high and had such peace of mind and then it went back to normal. When we left the grounds I felt like something left me.  It’s hard to describe.    The party was super sweet. Everyone brought authentic Mexican food that was so bomb.  One of the sisters in our...

Getting Things Moving

Boy did this week have some miracles.   In the beginning of the week, we had district council on Tuesday, and I learned that increasing faith takes acting first and then the increase of faith will come after. They also had a bomb taco salad with an insane brownie. The day after we did some service, helping with a move out. I learned that I need to really humble myself and that complaining takes away the Spirit.  In the past, I've complained about helping with certain service projects.  The people we helped were very kind and appreciative of our service. I know that complaining is not what the Lord would want from me.   The day after was one of the best experiences I've had so far on the mission. The first week we arrived in Cameron we met a family who spoke Spanish.  Since we were Spanish missionaries, it was a perfect opportunity to help them out.  The family's name was the Montoya's.  They have two sons and very kind parents. They gave us the best ta...

Don’t Worry About Feeding Me…

Image
Hello/Hola,  Week two just finished up with some Peruvian food that was insane (especially after a day of  fasting)!  A ward member and her son were kind enough to make us gourmet BBQ that was out of this world. Besides food, week two was really good. We found a few people we will be teaching in the near future.  Shannon, who is a shoemaker, is hearing impaired but can read lips. She is very kind and her son, Xavier, was already baptized. We will be teaching Shannon this week.     This week we were trying to set up a lot of member visits to get them more involved with the work. We had the opportunity to get to know some of the members and brought along a few to get into some less active member homes.  The church members are very kind and make sure to feed us all kinds of good stuff.  We also made some rather interesting dishes such as scrambled eggs and rice (see photo).            My companion and roomies are su...

Week One In The Field

Image
Hello/Hola everyone!   Today was week one (obviously)  in  the mission field. For all those that don't know, home MTC (Missionary Training Center) was super dope, but out here in the field is supremely dope. The first day was rough, the next day was hectic, but the day after was a blessing. Looking back, the Lord blessed me with comfort and peace. Also, the Elders here are muy chevre.           My companion’s name is Elder Tafuna'i and he is from Ogden, Utah.  He is a perfect first companion. He is diligent, very kind, and energetic. I've never heard the words, “hype”, “G.O.A.T”, “epic”, “legendary” and “the elect” used so eloquently before. He speaks very good Spanish - which is perfect for me. My other comps are named Elder Smith and Elder Prince. Both have some nerd in them, which is fantastic.  The first two things I noticed in our apartment were the Legos and many gospel books that they had laying around.   While my compan...
