Black Lightning Dragon Fire

This week went by fast, but the days were somewhat uneventful. We did quite a few different service projects as well as setting up appointments with our local church members.  Two of the most notable parts of my week were the opportunity I had to go to Adam-ondi-Ahman and attending a party with some of the Hispanic members in our area.

Adam-ondi-Ahman was different than I expected. When we arrived, it seemed like it wasn’t anything spectacular.  It wasn't until we were leaving that I realized how special it was. I had one of the most spiritual experiences when I gave a blessing while we were there. It felt like there were angels present. I felt like I was unconsciously on a spiritual high and had such peace of mind and then it went back to normal. When we left the grounds I felt like something left me.  It’s hard to describe.

The party was super sweet. Everyone brought authentic Mexican food that was so bomb.  One of the sisters in our ward make us homemade hats and slippers. The kindness of the Hispanic community is really something incredible.  I love to learn about their culture and have the opportunity to practice Spanish. We might be able to start a Spanish branch which would be amazing.

Our friend Mitch is doing well and will be baptized on the 4th.  He will be getting married to Sister Camarato on the 11th

Saturday morning, we helped someone move things in their house. He had a crazy crazy chicken that followed him around named Pico. He is kinda weird but is super dope.

Life is good. Some days are slower than others.  The food is good.  The missionaries I'm living with are very kind and fun to chill/work with. For Thanksgiving we plan on chilling with the district and after Thursday we get to listen to Christmas music.  It’s getting cold here and I miss my dogs and my Minky Couture blanket, but besides that, I'm doing fine.

I'm learning more and more in the scriptures. Something that I learned that stood out to me this week was 1. to pray and ask for the ability to love like Christ loves and 2. that true joy often comes from the joy of others. Kind of like “secondhand joy”. As a challenge, I would say to not justify your actions by trying to avoid a problem but instead, face it right on the money.

Hope you are all well!

Happy Thanksgiving,

Elder G
