Week One In The Field

Hello/Hola everyone!

Today was week one (obviously) in the mission field. For all those that don't know, home MTC (Missionary Training Center) was super dope, but out here in the field is supremely dope. The first day was rough, the next day was hectic, but the day after was a blessing. Looking back, the Lord blessed me with comfort and peace. Also, the Elders here are muy chevre.

My companion’s name is Elder Tafuna'i and he is from Ogden, Utah.  He is a perfect first companion. He is diligent, very kind, and energetic. I've never heard the words, “hype”, “G.O.A.T”, “epic”, “legendary” and “the elect” used so eloquently before. He speaks very good Spanish - which is perfect for me. My other comps are named Elder Smith and Elder Prince. Both have some nerd in them, which is fantastic.  The first two things I noticed in our apartment were the Legos and many gospel books that they had laying around.

While my companion has been serving for 22 and 1/2 months he has never been in the "boonies" before, so this week we have been getting to know the area and how to best serve the people here. We have been using a LOT of Facebook (yes, alas… I’m now on social media) and the focus now is to encourage members to help us make others feel comfortable about the gospel. We have a few appointments next week and found a gentleman that speaks Spanish two houses down from us. We will visit him on Friday.

I would like to encourage everyone to consider ways you can help in the missionary efforts and how sincere your prayers are in finding others that are ready for the message of the gospel. Many don't realize how crucial members are in bringing others to Christ. Remember when you are nervous, ask God for courage and [Alma 13.28-29] " thus be lead by the Holy Spirit."

Thanks for reading and remember to be chill in all you do.
