I've Got The Fever

Image
Hello once again from El Porvenir, Peru. This has been an eventful week. I got sick and had a high fever on Tuesday but Elder Castillo took great care of me bringing me cold towels to help get my fever down. He’s a good one.  He also does a fantastic Bugs Bunny impersonation!  We have met a lot of good people, have taught a lot, and have two people on date for baptism.  We went to lunch with the zone on p-day and it’s still really hot - a big difference from the long winter many of you are seeing in Utah!    This week I was studying in 2 Nephi 26: 23-25 23: For behold, my beloved brethren, I say unto you that the Lord God worketh not in darkness. 24: He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life that he may draw all men unto him.  Wherefore, he commandeth none that they shall not partake of his salvation.  25: Behold, doth he cry unto any, saying: Depart from me? Tremors

Hello again from El Porvenir.     What an interesting week it has been - zone conference, exchanges, and an earthquake that some of you may have read about.  It didn't hit us very hard, but from what I understand it hit hard in Ecuador.  We are praying for the people there.  When it hit, I was out on exchanges and didn’t even know about the earthquake, but my companion felt it.   Elder Kennedy and I went on exchanges together and it is cool to see the change and growth we have both experienced since starting home MTC together in September of 2021.   Our zone went to Trujillo on p-day and went out to lunch together.  I also started an Emotional Resilience class that is legit.    I have been thinking about our agency and faith.  We have agency and it is our responsibility to use our agency in a way that is respectful of others.  If someone does something to us that is unjust, Christ will correct and enforce His jus...

And The Rain Came Down

Hello again everyone.  Here's the latest...   We had transfers this week and I have a great new companion named Elder Castillo.  Also, my very first companion from my days of home MTC (Elder Kennedy) is now in El Provenir! We both started out in other places waiting for our Visas, but here we are kickin' it in Peru.  We have had quite a bit of rain in the last week with more on the way.  There was some flooding in the area, but not in our apartment - though we did have some leaks in the roof and window. We did our best to cover the leaky areas but the walls are still damp.  We are all good though.   Additionally, we helped clean the church for a dance and I tried a new dish (higado - I'll let you look that one up - I stuck mainly with the beans and rice).  Oh, and I now have a new goal - to master the game Ludo which I've recently discovered.   I have been thinking about how we make changes in our lives that will ultimately be for the be...
