New Leadership Assignment

Dear Elder Aidan Benjamin George, I congratulate you on your new calling as District Leader and Trainer. This calling has been extended to you because you have distinguished yourself as a trustworthy, obedient and capable missionary.   You have the responsibility to be an example and teacher for the missionaries in your District.  Be an emissary of the Savior in word and deed so that the Lord's spirit will be with you and guide and direct you.   You have the solemn responsibility to represent the Savior and myself as you interview good souls who have prepared for baptism.  Be mindful of this sacred responsibility and respectful and kind to those you interview.     You will be required to travel some in your District.  I admonish you to drive carefully and be sensitive to road conditions and speed limits.   Pray for the Lord's guidance and He will be with you and sustain your service.  Go forward with faith, and be prayerful and the ...

Communication

Image
Hello friends,   It’s been a busy couple of weeks.  We volunteered at a community fair to help provide clean water to people and made some peanut butter cookies to share with our friends.  We were also able to go to lunch with Laurie, a religion professor, and Ann, a history professor from Utah and it was really awesome to see them!   It looks like I will be transferring to a different area on Thursday. I have loved my time here getting to know the fine people of Blue Springs.  I have made some great friends and a lot of good things are happening that I’m excited about.  I will miss the people I have met and am grateful for the time I was able to spend here.   I have been studying about how to become a better communicator.  I sometimes have a hard time getting the thoughts out that I want to.  In my studies I found 7 things we need to be willing to do to become better communicators:   1.   Willingness to sacrifice 2.   Set the ...

Running, Royals, SantaCaliGon Days And BBQ

Image
It’s been a busy couple of weeks.  We volunteered at a festival called SantaCaliGon Days.  It celebrates the City of Independence as the starting point of the Santa Fe, California, and Oregon Trails. I was in a booth teaching people about family history.  I also performed an epic magic trick where someone chooses a number and I would guess it....with 100% accuracy.  I also ran a 5K.  We were able to go to a Kansas City Royal’s game where I got to see the great Elder Darton.  It was legit to see a familiar face from home.     I’ve been studying a lot about empathy.  One thing I want to implement in my life is seeking to understand before being understood. To have empathy for others, we need to get to know them.  I want to work on asking better questions to get to know people and then learn how to be quiet and listen.  I want to be more humble and patient.  Make an effort this week to come up with inspired more powerful ques...

On The Mend

Image
I've technically hit a year now so that's something. This week was solid - a little stressful because we had limited miles so we had to be careful where we went. We met a few really nice people. We aren't sure how committed they are, but I'm grateful for the miracles we were given.  My finger is healed up nicely and I'm on the mend.   Something that we were invited to do is to think of one way we have deepened our conversion this week. This week I was more fully converted through a miracle we saw Saturday night. We have been trying to only act on the "best" activities, meaning we only do things that will result in achieving our purpose. We haven't been able to teach people for most of this week, but Saturday we saw an unpredicted miracle.  Miracles are out there.  Look for them. This week was epic, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true, and Joesph Smith was a prophet.     Elder (Aidan) George   Pictures: 1. Chain Mail ...
