Communication

Hello friends,

It’s been a busy couple of weeks.  We volunteered at a community fair to help provide clean water to people and made some peanut butter cookies to share with our friends.  We were also able to go to lunch with Laurie, a religion professor, and Ann, a history professor from Utah and it was really awesome to see them!

It looks like I will be transferring to a different area on Thursday. I have loved my time here getting to know the fine people of Blue Springs.  I have made some great friends and a lot of good things are happening that I’m excited about.  I will miss the people I have met and am grateful for the time I was able to spend here.

I have been studying about how to become a better communicator.  I sometimes have a hard time getting the thoughts out that I want to.  In my studies I found 7 things we need to be willing to do to become better communicators:

1.  Willingness to sacrifice

2.  Set the stage for good communication

3.  Actively listen

4.  Vocalize feelings

5.  Avoid judgement

6.  Maintain confidences

7.  Practice patience

This week I am focusing on being a better communicator by vocalizing feelings.  I would encourage everyone to pick one of the 7 ideas to try out this week.

Have a good week!
