Anti-Fragile

A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks.  We had transfers and I stayed in Kansas City and Elder Connell was transferred to a different area.  My new companion’s name is Elder Moen.  He’s a good friend.    I found out that my Visa paperwork got lost sometime in February, so I had to redo my fingerprints and submit a new background check.  I don’t have a date yet on when I will be leaving for Peru but I’m just focusing on making connections with the fine people here in Missouri.   I went on exchanges last week and had a lot of fun.  I’ve been working on family history and learning about my ancestors.  We also did a lot of service and participated in an Escape Room activity with the youth.    I talked with someone that used the term “anti-fragile” last week. I liked the idea of….  You can hit it and it becomes fragile.  With enough pressure it will burst and then rebuild as something stronger.    Hope you ar...

Family

This was a great week.  Thank you for all the birthday wishes! I had some great families make me birthday dinner and cookies.  Another family gave me and my companion some Elk steaks that we cooked for dinner.  I also made some stew but had to improvise some ingredients, so it was "meh".  The trees are pretty here as the Spring blossoms are starting to bloom.    This week I have had family on my mind.  The goal of families is to help each other.  What defines family?  We are all family, whether by blood or not. The family is the strongest unit on the planet.   Blessings come through family history work and connecting with all those around us.  To love our neighbors is the first great commandment.  The power of the atonement has been extended to all of us and we have been given mercy and grace.  We can and should give mercy and grace to others.  The reason I'm out here is to connect with others.    ...
