Hola,
This week was solid. We went on exchanges, met some great people, had a visitor in the apartment (which happened to be a gecko), and performed some service. Over the weekend, we were able to watch General Conference - it was in Spanish, and I could understand almost all of it. One of the talks that really stuck out to me was from President Nelson. He encouraged us to be peacemakers and that one indicator of how we represent Christ is by the way we treat others. He asked us to be unified with others, even when we may have differences in opinions. We can still have charity. President Nelson said, “As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are to be examples of how to interact with others — especially when we have differences of opinion,” he said. “One of the easiest ways to identify a true follower of Jesus Christ is how compassionately that person treats other people" and that “true disciples build, lift, encourage, persuade and inspire — no matter how difficult the situation. True disciples of Jesus Christ are peacemakers. … I urge you to be a peacemaker, now and always.” If you haven’t had a chance to listen to his talk, I would encourage you to.
Another thing I did this week was learn more about emotional resilience. I learned about triggers, thinking patterns, and how to have healthy thinking patterns.
Some of the Common Inaccurate Thinking Patterns are
1. All or nothing- seeing something or someone as all good or all bad.
2. Mislabeling- taking something that happened and thinking the wrong thing about it/yourself
3. Jumping to Conclusions- assuming the worst outcome
4. Personalizing- blaming yourself or someone for a situation that involved many factors
5. Emotional Reasoning- judging a situation based on how you feel.
When you recognize you are having an inaccurate thinking pattern or thought you can try and change it in the moment. I am learning about creating more accurate thinking patterns and finding a healthy way to change negative thoughts.
Have a great week. Happy Easter. He is Risen.
